• I deleted the default home page. The URL is correctly displaying posts at https://mitorrefuerte.org/. But I can’t get a “Home” page back on the menu.

I want posts on a page named Home. So I created a new Home page, and several times I tried swapping to “Front Page Displays Static Page.” But the only way to get “Home” to receive posts is to set it as the posts page, and of course then it is no longer reached via the URL. The situation is complicated by the fact that I started the site at WordPress.com and then exported it to a hosted site at Godaddy–both in 2012 theme.

How do I get back to how it was originally, posts on “Home”?

  • What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

I got it from WordPress.com originally, and then imported it into a fresh site at godaddy that already had 2012 activated.

Have you reviewed creating a static front page?

Right, I thoroughly understand Static Front page vs Front page displays Posts.

Indeed, the site is currently set to Front Page Displays Posts.

The site is currently using the main posts page as its front page. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

in the ‘custom menu’ dashboard – appearance – menus add a ‘Links’ menu item with the link to your site; as URL enter https://mitorrefuerte.org/ and as Link Text enter Home.

you might need to enable the ‘Links’ first by clicking the ‘screen options’ tab near the top right and tick the ‘Links’ box…..

    Thanks! It wasn’t the plugins.

But I just realized I could solve this by simply creating a menu item named Home that points to the URL.

I soooooooo appreciate your kind attention!!!
