Front page with sidebar

Did you try Customizit!>Front Page>Set up the front page layout>Right Sidebar?

Yes, but is not working.

I have the same problem. Front page layout is stuck on full width.

Use this link and scroll down (quite a way) to Pages and posts layout. That explains how to set the global default. But there’s also a similar dropdown in Customizit!>Front Page which sets the sidebar layout for just the Front Page, and may be different to the global settings.

Then each Page can also be edited (Dashboard>Pages>Edit page – Layout Options) and there is a panel to set the sidebar layout there too.

Is none of that working?

The global settings are different from the front page settings. Global settings effect all pages. I just want to get a right column on the front page so I can put a sign up form there. I also want to be able to control which widegets appear on which pages/posts. Is there a way to do that? For instance: I only want the sign up form on the front page, but I want a number of other widgets on the internal pages.

I can edit the pages ok. But it’s not great. Everything seems too big, too in your face, loud. Is there a way to scale that back?

I did all that. I set the global default layout and checked the box for Force default layout everywhere. I can’t see anything changing!
Can you tell me, in Customize–>Front Page–> Front Page Displays how must be: Static Page? I’m asking coz i dont know if i am doing someting wrong here

Front Page can point to either a Static Page or your Latest Posts. So there are a few combinations that can be set (Home & Blog refer to Pages):
1) Front page displays: Don’t show any posts or page
2) Front page displays: your latest posts =Displays posts
3) Front page displays: A static Page
Posts page: –Select–
Front page: –Select– =Displays posts
4) Front page displays: A static Page
Posts page: –Select–
Front page: Home =Displays static page
5) Front page displays: A static Page
Posts page: Blog
Front page: –Select– =Displays posts
6) Front page displays: A static Page
Posts page: Blog
Front page: Home =Displays static page

Options 4 & 6 are the most likely to use. You’ll need to set up the Home/Blog static pages if you want them.

The sidebar position is often raised and it will need a Snippet to change it. It’s on Nic’s wishlist I believe.

I will follow your advice and hope for a change! Is the only page that i can not translate. Do you know if there is a simple way to put flags somewhere on the up right of a page, for different languages.
