    Hello

I’m having problems following yesterday’s update. Thankfully I backed up the website before updating, as I needed to update to rid me of the “this block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed” problem. Once the update had finished, however, my Front Page layout is all over the place. The menus is now on the left hand side, the site logo is at full size and covering the menu, I’ve lost one of the images on the background of one of the sections (although it’s still there if I go into “Appearance, Frontpage Sections”, the images are no longer centred in each section, and there used to be some sort of dark overlay over the images allowing you to read the text and this has disappeared too. Any help before I revert the site for our visitors would be appreciated – we are a local small charity and are becoming central to the COVID19 response in our village. Thanks again.

  • Hi Andrew,

Hestia’s latest update didn’t actually change anything related to this, so I’m not sure if that’s the cause.
If you also updated the WordPress version to 5.4, this can also be the cause of the issues.
I see you are using a child theme and a bunch of plugins.
The first thing you can try is disabling the plugins and enabling them one by one to see if any of theme is causing issues. After that, you can also try to activate Hestia instead of the child theme to see if that’s doing anything.

    Regards,
    Rodica

Thank you. I shall try the above. Everything was fine when I updated to WordPress 5.4 (except the issue where I saw the “this block has encountered an error…” message) and it was only after updating Hestia to solve the block error message that this happened. I’ll give the above ago and keep you posted – thank you for your help.

It’s Child Theme causing the issues. Thanks for your help.
