• What would be causing my front page to load incorrectly at where I work (a school). At every other computer in the world, (I’ve tested it) the pages load just fine. It’s only at my place of employment where they load this way. I was told by my techie that it’s my fault. Thoughts?

This is what they pages are supposed to look like:

  • Hello!

Have you tried clearing your browsers’ cache?

Try the above in IE. it may just be that a setting is off in IE on that machine. Select “Default style”, NOT “No Style”.

Thanks sc00t. That did not work.

    Hello blade!

Thanks for the assistance, but yes, I’ve tried that and just tried it again without success.

Try disabling any add-ons that you might have. Also check your antivirus/firewall; disable it for a bit and perform a hard refresh again (CTRL-F5) to see if that helps.

Also try Inspect Element (right-click) on IE, then switch to the Console tab and see if there are any errors that could point out the problem.

    Welcome to my world, Blade.

I cannot check my firewall/antivirus because as a teacher, I do not have access to the firewall and our tech guy continues to throw this problem on my end and not his.

The websites work on the WI-FI at the school, off the WI-FI at school, and at every computer across the world, EXCEPT for the wired computers at school.

I have domains. One of them works just fine at the school. The other two their formatting is off and I cannot login to wordpress admin to edit the pages.

I don’t understand why they work literally everywhere else, EXCEPT on the hardline desktops at school.

I disabled the addons…no big deal. And not sure what Inspect Element would be. He sent me a picture of the “errors” and many of them were: the server understood the request/has not found anything matching the requested URI. I’m a noob so I don’t know what that means, but again, everything works just fine everywhere else.

Have you tried a different browser on that same machine?

Yep, that’s strange, and I believe it needs some more thorough investigation…

@sc00t Yes, both IE and Google. I’ve also tried loading the pages on other teacher’s desktops as well. Fail.

After sending an email to our tech guru this is what he sent in response and said, ‘fix these errors.’ I have no clue 1) what he’s talking about 2) why the sites work on every computer across the world EXCEPT the computers at school. If there were errors to be fixed, I would think they would be on his end and not mine considering the sites work just fine elsewhere.
    error list

It’s a server side issue, especially that 403 error. The server can’t seem to access those files. You should contact the hosting company and tell them to have a look, since you don’t have access to the server. Don’t think you can do anything on your end…

Thanks. Will do. I go through my brother who pays for his own hosting company. We’ve taken a look at as much as we could on our server/host control panel.

Thank you for your thoughts, blade.

Seems something is going on with Apache behind the scenes and not school related. No clue how to fix it. Thanks you two for the assistance.
