Front Page is not the selected static page.

Hello,

I’ve selected a static page to be the Front Page using the built in Options> Reading> Front page displays:> A Static page> Front page: (one of my static pages).

But all I get are my latest posts when I view the web site and selecting the the same static page from the sidebar shows the latest posts.

I have tried it with the WordPress Default 1.6 theme in case redoable 1.2 has a bug but I still don’t see the selected static page as my front page.

Is there something I’m not getting?

I assume this feature is to select a static page as the first page someone sees when they visit the site.
