Front Page Displays Option Missing

That option only displays when you actually have a Page created on the blog. If you don’t have any Pages, then it doesn’t make any sense to have the option there, does it? ??

I do have a Page created… when I went to select it from Settings – that option isn’t there.

No Otto42, I don’t aqree. I think it should always be displayed.

Why? Because I just wasted an hour of my time, reinstalling the theme and trying to figure out why it was missing. this was on a new install and because there were no pages yet, it didn’t display. A complete and utter waste of my time and it could have all been avoided if the option were there… always.

I just had a problem with the is_front_page() function not working. It had worked for days but something had changed and I couldn’t work out what it was. I checked my theme code over and over again but I could find no errors. I was about to completely reinstall WordPress until I realised something was missing from the “Reading” settings.

It turns out the problem was that the top “Front page displays” radio button had unchecked itself (I have no idea how) and because I had no pages the “Front page displays” settings were hidden.

Thanks, Otto42, for explaining why the settings are hidden but after this little experience I have to agree with cnymike that they should always be displayed. ??
