• Hi,

On https://wordpress.com/pages/yvonnewitte.com I would like to create the same homepage as shown on this url: https://illustratrdemo.wordpress.com/

    Therefor I read the following:
When you first activate Illustratr, your posts will display in a traditional blog format. If you would like to show your portfolio projects on the front page of your site (like Illustratr‘s demo site), just follow these instructions:
Create or edit a page, and assign it to the “Portfolio Page Template” from the “Page Attributes” module.
Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
Select your portfolio page as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page,” (to display your blog posts).

I follow these steps, but there is no Front page displaus and Post page in Settings → Reading. Is there another way for this?

    Thank you in advance.
    Kim

  • Hi @ywitte!

If your site is hosted on WordPress.com, you’ll be best off posting on the WordPress.com Theme forums at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes

One thing I would suggest as this can sometimes be the issue – make sure you have a page set in your Customizer as a Static Front Page, and make sure that page is public. Private pages won’t work quite the same way ??

If that doesn’t solve the problem, open a thread over on the WordPress.com forums for more help!

    Hello @ywitte!

I had the same problem as you trying to figure out how to get my Illustratr theme looking the same as the example. I still haven’t figured that out, but I do have an answer to your question.

Type in your website address and add /wp-admin to the end of it. That will pull up the admin page that will give you the option for editing the reading section in the settings.

    Good luck!

    Thanks @seajay111!

I think I missed this part of the original question:

I follow these steps, but there is no Front page displaus and Post page in Settings → Reading. Is there another way for this?

On a WordPress.com site, (the menus are different, which is part of what makes the other forum a better fit).

The best place to control that setting on WordPress.com is in the Customizer, under the “Static Front Page” section ??
