Front End Omni Search Plugins?

  • Our website has a few distinct areas that need distinct searching capabilities and I’m curious to know of best practices and preferred Plugins for this sort of thing. Here are a few use cases:

    Blog – Users should only get results returned Posts.
    Custom Post Type (Wiki) – Users should only get results from within that Post Type.
    WooCommerce – I know they have their own Widget but I’d like this to be noted anyway because it seems like there should be an omnisearch and third parties can just extend the API accordingly.

    What I imagine is a single search bar that can be placed as a Widget, and automatically detects the page/post-type the user is on and applies the necessary filter for them. If they want to change that filter and search more broadly there would be some sort of simple arrow on the right of the search that allows them to change the context.

    Anyone have any recommendations?
