Hi, your plugin seems very attractive to me, but i would make sure that it works in my case. Below my website Dwaalgasten I have created a full WP “sub” website Lorelei. Now I want to move this “sub” website to another provider, where it will get it’s own domain name (no reference to Dwaalgasten anymore). Dwaalgasten (without the lorelei part) will remain at the original provider.

    Will Duplicator do the job?

    Thanks! Michiel

  • Hey @michieljf,

If you are referring to WordPress MU (Multi-site), the lite version of the plugin does not support this feature. If “sub” site is simply a directory of a normal WordPress install then it will handle that scenario.

    Hope that helps~

hey Cory, thanks for your quick reply! I guess it’s not a MU, because the “sub”site has its own WP installation. So there are two separate WP installations, one for the main website and one for the to-be-moved website presently in a directory below that main website. So I will certainly give it a try to use Duplicator!

Thanks for the feedback! If this is your first time trying it, I would recommend setting up a staging area that is similar to your production setup and testing there before trying on your production site.

    Hope that helps~

Hey Cory, thanks for the advice, but a staging area was not necessary. Thanks also to your clear “how to” vid the migration was easy to do. Great plugin, five stars!

Excellent! Thanks for letting us know.
