fresh install error 404 page not found

  • hi there. i have done over 150 wordpress installations and currently run about 65 wordpress sites but have now encountered a new problem.
    i installed a fresh wordpress3.4.2 installation to a sub directory (something ive done counteless times before) but when i get to the configuration or try to access my login page i get a 404 page not found error. i can see the front end of my new installation but cannot access my dashboard. ive tried softaculous as well as ftp (with manually created db) installations. i also downloaded a fresh copy or wp still no luck. it seems lots of people have this problem but no one actually supplies a solution.
    my main site is https://www.melkbosadmin.co.za (also wordpress and works perfectly)the troublesome installation is on https://www.melkbosadmin.co.za/nsa

    please help im despreate!!!

  • What’s in the root .htaccess file? What flavour of server are you using? Any redirection or protection set up on the hosting control panel?

    do you mean the root of the sub folder (new installation) or the root of the main site?
    i have better wordpress security installed on the main domain. could that be influencing my new installation?
