Hi, I rectified a wrong french translation using Poedit. Next post was translated as “article suivrant”. The right one is “article suivant”.

Meanwhile I couldn’t find out how to make “No newer posts” translate to french. Searched into Ignite’s fr.po and wordpress languages po’s as well, couldn’t find the expression. “Newer posts” is translated as “articles récents” which is correct, but “no newer posts” doesn’t appear anywhere and keeps not being translated. Any idea ?

    Hey,

Could you let me know, are you using standard French (fr_FR) or a dialect such as Belgium (fr_BE) or Canada (fr_CA)?

Hi, thanks for your answer. I’m using standard French.

I couldn’t find the same misspelling as you and I’m just realizing now that it likely means an older version of the translation file was being loaded in your Poedit.

Inside Poedit, click the Catalog menu item and then choose to update from a POT file: https://pics.competethemes.com/77dba6feccd4. You can click here to download a new copy of Ignite and find the ignite.pot file you need in the “languages” folder. Once you update from the newest version of the POT file, I think you’ll see that “article suivant” is already corrected and “no newer posts” no longer shows up as an available translation.

Thanks Ben. Meanwhile what I mean is that ??no newer posts?? is not translated at all, it sticks to english. I’m not home right now, will try your solution later anyway.

Now I tried your solution but even worse, as “newer post” is not translated anymore. So I reverted to my own corrected fr.po and article suivant now shows up normally.

Still no translation for “no newer posts” (“pas d’article plus récent”)

    Thanks,
    Michel

Oops I meant ??next post?? (not ??newer post??).

Re-reading my posts, I’d like to avoid confusion ?? :

    1. “Next post” was wrongly translated as “article suivrant”, I corrected to “suivant”. Meanwhile the most recent fr.po already corrected this.

    2. “No newer posts” (appears at the bottom of the most recent post) is not translated, it stays in english, be it with my “old” .po or the most recent one.

    Thanks !

Sorry for the delay! I’ve been traveling the last day.

When you open the updated PO file, do you see an opportunity to translate “No newer posts” or is omitted completely as an available translation?

Thanks. I just searched for “no newer posts”, it’s not there. Must be possible to add it I guess ? Not sure it’s worth spending 30 $ to buy the pro version of Poedit, at least for my use.

OK I found the solution using a plugin called Loco Translate, “synchronizing” the .po file and then “No newer posts” as well as “No older posts” miraculously appeared. Just had to translate them. Thanks, Michel
