    Dear supporters,

first of, I wish all a happy new year.

My issue is that the flag for French language just disappeared. I translated the site into three languages.
I can still see the German and English flag, but the french flag just disappeared and I see the word French instead of the flag. The site works fine and switching between language works also fine, the only problem is the French flag that disappeared.
In the menu Under language switcher the flag is checked.
I went to languages and deleted the french laguage and insert it again, but the flag still does not show. Only the word French.
    I am using Worpress 3.7.1
    Theme: Delicate

Do you have any suggestions to help me resolve the issue please? Or shoudl I update WordPress to the last version?

    Thanks and regards

additional info: upgrading to WordPress 3.8 did not help resolve the issue. No Flag, but just French word!!!

    Could you post a link?

    Hello Chouby,
you need to type in: search for a doc in one word and then the domain de

I have now changed it from flags into words, but I am not quite satisfied with the result. I am looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks

That’s hard to help if you remove the problem. Perhaps your theme uses a custom nav menu walker which may be unable to display pictures. Did you try with another theme?

I suddenly discovered the issue. It has worked with this theme all the time. This issue has occured since some days. I think it has anything to do with an upgrade.
The problem is that the flag cannot be displayed in the backend either.
the other languages show flags but the French not???which is odd!! I suppose that it is a bug in the plugin due to the latest upgrade.

Something wrong with the upgrade maybe. Is the file fr_FR.png present, readable and not corrupted in polylang/flags directory? Did you try to re-install the plugin manually?

The file fr_FR.png is present and readable.

The project is onlive and if I try to reinstall the plugin from scratch again, the site will be out of reach for some time and I am going to have trouble with the contracting body!!!

I suppose this issue has maybe anything to do with WordPress upgrade??!!do other people have the same or identical issue?
The issue is only with the french flag and in the backend too. So anyting in the code of the plugin to display the flag is maybe wrong.

I hope you come up with a resolution soon. Thanks

I did not meant redoing everything from scratch but just replacing the files with FPT instead of doing the automatic upgrade. That should not take more time than a standard upgrade.

do other people have the same or identical issue?

You are the only one. And I am using the French flag myself.

All flags share the same code. That’s why I thought the file may be corrupted. But that’s not the case.

Did you try putting the flag in wp-content/polylang? This custom flag will not be used on backend but only on frontend.

Replacing/upgrading polylang using FTP did not help. The issue is still persisting.

Polylang is under plugins file where it should be.
No, I did not try putting the flag in wp-content/polylang. I did not experiment that.

I am puzzled how such a thing can happen all of a sudden.
I even activated in the beginning some plugins to prevent an automatic plugin/wordpress upgrade to avoid trouble, but this did not help as you can notice.

Issue has disappeared after having upgraded plugins:
Disable WordPress Core Updates and/or Disable Updates Manager.

On the other hand, another issue of less imporatnce is still persisting: under application form the email field is translated into French, although I do not want that it should be transalted into that language. May you please know how to resolve it?

    Thanks.

I am glad you solved the issue as I really had no other ideas.
How do you create your application form?
