I’m having a few problems with my course so any help with these questions would be great.

to start the first week of my course is free offering my viewers a free trial week, however it still asks them for their paypal information when they checkout. How do I make it completely free for the first week of the course. My credit card, paypal info, nothing, just completely free. I think it’ll be confusing for my clients to be signing up for a free week and then having to enter their paypal or credit card information. However I still want them to go through the regular account sign up process because once they’re signed up they get added to my email list.

My next problem is i’d like to change the display pricing text for the course. https://imgur.com/a/dTT98 I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find the css. I want to change the text to “Trial week is free then $48 every 4 weeks for 16 weeks. Money back guarantee!” instead of what it currently says which just looks kind of awkward.

Any help with these issues would be great. I’ve been trying forever and for the life of me can’t figure it out

  • Hi @cooldogcostumer,

Are you using LifterLMS 3x or 2x? If you’re on 3x, I would create a free access plan to your course that expires in 1 week. And then invite them to sign up for the recurring plan during your email sequence.

If you’re using version 2x you might need to get more creative, possibly creating 2 membership levels – one that’s the free trial, including the course on offer, but just for 7 days. And the 2nd, the full course included in the membership, but on a payment plan.

But, as a side note, it’s very, very common to collect credit card information while signing up for a trial. In your course sales copy, you could mention that you’ll send them an email reminder prior to the payment going through, if that would ease any concerns.

Re: the text in the pricing table
Have you downloaded the LifterLMS helper plugin? The subject on this page is referring to premium plugins, but I believe it works with 2x (I should verify that – will you do a backup before uploading it, just in case?). It’s designed to help you add custom styles and php without worrying about losing anything when the plugin updates.

I’m not sure exactly what file to look for, but I would start by looking in Plugin.

I’d love to hear what you decide to do with the payment options.

Hi Loralee, great information, thank you so much! my version of liferlms is 2.7.12. If I update it to version 3 is it free and will all my courses still be there?

Also from my understanding that plugin only assists people with the premium lifter lms theme and won’t really help me in my situation. I’ve installed in and it doesn’t show any custom css functions or anything really.

Also how will the membership levels effect how the content is drip fed? for example you cannot view the second week of the course until you’ve been enrolled for 7 days. Once they sign up for a premium membership will the course progress of the user be transferred? Or would they basically just be restarting the course?
