Free version is just a showcase

  • I am surprised by seeing they are not allowing to use lossy compression for JPG images in free version. I used it for my site to improve google pagespeed but not a single gain. Waste of time.
    It is good if you buy (as other reviews suggest this)

    You’re right, Google’s PageSpeed Insights uses lossy compression, and the free version will not allow your site to pass their test (gtmetrix.com is a better test for the free version). Shoot, you’re not even guaranteed to pass the PSI test on the highest compression level because Google prioritizes speed over quality (and EWWW IO does the opposite): https://docs.ewww.io/article/5-pagespeed-says-my-images-need-more-work

    However, the free version is much more than a showcase. It lets you compress unlimited images, unlimited filesize, and more. There are only two restrictions: the compression level, and the image backups.

    Even then, you can get 500 free credits to use the best compression levels simply by allowing anonymous usage tracking.

    Call me crazy, but I think you get just a little more than you paid for at the amazing price of “free” ??
