  • Be aware that if you use the paid add-ons (for example to perform an import – $50, or categories, $50) that support, which is only available on the author’s site, is nearly non-existent. You have the option of paying even more to get various guaranteed levels of support (upwards of $100 to get a same day response). In short, do not assume that because you throw upwards of $500 towards one of the bundles of addons that you’re going to get any help beyond what the docs offer (unless you pony up more cash).

    If you find something simply is not working due to a bug, and you have a deadline, best of luck. To add value, there are three options – better quality software that does not have bugs, lower cost software that make the bugs tolerable, or lower profit software that puts profits into support.

    The author does make it clear that he’s a one man shop and does not have time to support the product when customers complain, but that sounds like a problem with his business model, not one that should be shouldered by customers. I don’t find that a good way to do business.

    I’ll also echo another reviewers comments on the UI – it is dated. On the frontend no ajax on flipping categories or radius settings, on the admin UI there’s not much to explain – it’s not styled like the rest of WP.

    If you can get by with the free version, it’s worth it. Also note that in the free version you can import stores via mysql/phpmyadmin, just import your pre-geocoded csv and make sure your column names match. I did this to see if it could handle a few thousand stores before committing to purchasing the “ProPack”.

    There is a new “look and feel” for Store locator Plus version 4.3 SL Plus had a major overhaul and is fully compatible with the latest WP versions 4.3 and up. It was published in August 2015.
