• I’m using WooCommerce as an online shop option as well as a Canada Post Shipping plugin that shows real-time Canada Post rates for shipping options. I have one set of items in my store (Herbal Amulets) that need to have free shipping so I set them up as a free flat rate shipping class. When someone goes to purchase an amulet alone, the shop and cart works perfectly, letting customers know that they receive free shipping on the item, but if they want it expresspost or expedited parcel it’ll be “X$” rate for Canada Post.

HOWEVER, as soon as another item is added to the cart, the “Flat Rate Free” shipping option is still available. I don’t want the Free option available when there other things in the cart since they will be shipped in the same package and there will be a cost to shipping. The reason the amulets have free shipping is because they are so small that the weight does not affect the shipping costs.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

If you are not able to find a solution doing what you are doing, I have an alternate solution that may work, it requires using an external coupon extension:
    AwoCoupon for WooCoomerce

And instead of creating a free flat rate shipping, you would use your normal flat rate shipping. Then with AwoCoupon create a coupon that discounts the flat rate shipping 100% if specific product(s) are in the cart. If others are added, then the coupon would not apply. And this can be applied automatically, without the use of a coupon code.

Thanks very much for your feedback! The problem is that I am not using a flat rate for the rest of the products in store, but the Canada Post Shipping plugin which calculates shipping based on the weight and dimensions of the products in the cart.

I see, i meant your standard shipping, so not express or expedited.

In any case it probably will not work too well for you anyway, as it does not show free shipping. It shows a shipping method with a cost, and then a discount to 0 out the cost. Might be a little confusing..
