I have three minor issues that I would like to understand/fix:

    1. I have had Google Listing & Ads running for several months. Many free impressions and clicks are being recorded. But for conversions and total sales it says “unavailable”. I recently added the Performance Max and have started seeing many clicks, impressions, conversions and total sales being recorded in the same reports that Free Listings are reported. Why is the Free Listings not reporting conversions and sales? Why does it say unavailable?
    2. I have a “search” program that shows up in the dashboard but not in the reports. I have confirmed that the “search” campaign is active in Adwords and has impressions, clicks but no conversions.
    3. Free listings shows as United States only when my paid campaigns show as US and Canada.

  • Hi there @vorticy ??

Thank you for reaching out. Happy to help clarify things further!

In response to points 1 and 3, kindly take a look at the documentation linked here, on what conversion actions Google Listings & Ads tracks.

Additionally, further details on free listings can be found linked here, and here for Google Performance Max campaigns.

I have a “search” program that shows up in the dashboard but not in the reports. I have confirmed that the “search” campaign is active in Adwords and has impressions, clicks but no conversions.

I read the information in the links you provided but neither discussed directly to the issues I’m concerned with. It would be helpful if you would be more specific. Like “free listings never show conversions because we didn’t think it would be useful information”. Or “free listings are only available for US impressions /clicks because no other country deserves it”. Please try to be specific.

    As for #2,

    Hi @vorticy,

Let me try to address your concerns more specifically:

    1. Regarding the unavailability of conversions and sales data for Free Listings in Google Listing & Ads: Google does not provide conversion data for free listings. You see the “unavailable” message due to this limitation from Google’s end, not a problem with the plugin itself.
    2. For your “search” program issue: It could be due to a delay in data synchronization. Sometimes, data can take up to 24-48 hours to fully sync between Google AdWords and your website. However, is this search program is a Smart Shopping or Performance Max campaign?
    3. Free Listings showing as United States only: Free listings are currently only available to merchants in the US. This is a restriction set by Google, not the plugin. Your paid campaigns can show in the US and Canada because paid listings do not have the same restrictions as free listings.

I hope this clarifies your concerns. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Thank you @shameemreza

Is there a reason why google does not provide conversion data for free listings? It is strange.

I have auto-tagging turned on in Google merchant center. I am tracking via Google Analytics and “google/organic” users or sessions do not match the Free Listing “clicks”. I do see a “Shopping Free Listing” in session source platform but those users are much less than the Free Listing clicks. During the same period, there were 866 Shopping Free Listing users vs 20,664 Free listing clicks. There is also “Manual” at 60k and “(Not set)” at 30k in the Session source platform that contain the majority of the traffic.

The goal is to get all these different tools working correctly. I’m not sure about the reports available in this plugin. Why they don’t show conversions is mysterious. Also, what exactly are the free listings and how are they different from “google/organic”

    Hello @vorticy,

I would be happy to provide more clarity on your concerns.

Is there a reason why google does not provide conversion data for free listings? It is strange.

Google does not provide conversion data for free listings because these listings are not tied to any specific ad campaign that tracks conversions. They are simply a way for Google to populate its Shopping tab with products from various merchants. Therefore, the “unavailable” message you see is not a limitation of the plugin itself but rather a limitation of the data provided by Google for free listings.

For further clarification, I would suggest contacting Google support directly.

It’s important to understand that a “click” is counted each time a user clicks on your product listing in Google, while a “user” in Google Analytics is a unique visitor to your website. Therefore, if a user clicks on multiple free listings, it would count as multiple clicks but only one user in Google Analytics.

The “Manual” and “(Not set)” traffic sources you’re seeing in Google Analytics could be from users who have disabled their cookies or are using ad blockers, which can prevent Google Analytics from accurately tracking their source.

Additionally, free listings are different from “google/organic” in that they specifically appear in the Google Shopping tab, while “google/organic” traffic can come from any Google search result, not just the Shopping tab.

I hope this helps clarify your questions. If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.
