I transferred my site to another server with a backup. The site works well and all the plugins also except Wordfence which reports a missing license even though the plugin was working perfectly before the transfer. So I asked for another free license and tried to install it. I have an error “error Installing License An error occurred while installing your license key”
I searched for a solution in the forum and tried several solutions but nothing worked. I used the same browser, deactivated all other plugins, entered the license manually, asked for a new key again… Nothing works

    what should I do ?

    Thanks

Hi @fabienfr17, sorry to hear you’ve had trouble installing the license and thank-you for letting me know the troubleshooting you’ve tried so far.

Are you simultaneously experiencing any red errors in the browser console? If so, what do they say? We’re currently looking into what configurations may be experiencing issues such as this so it’d help us out to see what might be going wrong.

You should still have access to the Wordfence > Tools menu to send us a diagnostic report. You can send that to us at wftest @ wordfence . com. Click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

I am also having problems installing free licence. WordFence used to work fine until recently. I now get the following error message when I try to install free licence.

Hi @njmultimedia and @kingscrownsolutions, our forum guidelines require us to use one topic for one user’s issue as things can get pretty confusing if issues end up having different causes on different environments. Please open up a new topic, drop a diagnostic in advance to wftest @ wordfence . com (with your forum username included) so we can also check your configuration, and we’ll be happy to help out!

@fabienfr17 we have received your diagnostics and it’s been put forward to the team. I’ll let you know when I have more information.

    Thanks again,
    Peter.

    Hi @fabienfr17,

Your diagnostics show?Basic config writing?and?Serialized config writing?are failing, and the database table check shows that it’s looking for mixed-case table names. Normally this doesn’t happen when transferring to a new server, unless the old server was a Windows server (which is not officially supported.)

You may just need to deactivate and activate the plugin again from WordPress > Plugins > Installed Plugins, or may need to perform a clean Wordfence installation. You can import/export settings first, making sure to keep the key you’re provided with safe in the mean time, if there are any non-default settings you don’t want to lose.

The instructions for removal using the Wordfence Assistant, or manually (including database table names) are here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/

    Thanks again,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,
I updated the plugin to version 7.9.0 and I no longer have a license error.
    Thanks again for your help.
