I cannot get a free license. I have tried multiple times with a correct email and just get: Registration failed to complete within the expected time period. Please try again.

    Hi @2chicks,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Are you receiving the email with your license key, or is the email not coming through at all?

If you do have the email: We’ve seen issues installing keys automatically more than 24 hours after generation. Additionally, if you’re using a different browser than the one used when requesting your Free license, you’ll be unable to automatically install it. In those cases, you’ll need to manually copy and paste the key from the email to complete the activation.

Aside from verifying that you didn’t inadvertently copy only part of the license key, I’d check whether you can install the license when Wordfence is the only active plugin on your site. There could be a Javascript conflict with another plugin, potentially stopping the code executing the verification check. Also, there could be Javascript errors in your browser console.

Let me know if it still doesn’t work after trying those things.

    Thanks,
    Tiffany

That error is on your site. When I click through from the price selection page from my WordPress site plugin, and insert my email in the appropriate field, the page circles for a moment and then comes up with that error. Other people putting tickets in for this same issue. It’s not user-friendly at all. It looks like nothing happened, so you give up and try again “later”. Each time you try, the same error comes up. So you think the whole free license system is broken. Took me about 30 mins of my life today, only to finally figure out that even though the site comes up with that error that an email was coming an hour later. You really should fix that error on the site. It’s confusing a LOT of people. You might want it to say: Watch your inbox for the license.

    Hi @2chicks,

Can you email feedback @ wordfence . com to tell us which email address you used when registering? Please include the link to this forum post.

Our developers are looking into this issue. They expect that it happens when the host’s mail server either doesn’t respond initially, or gives an unexpected response, as normally the emails are delivered within seconds.

    Thanks in advance.
