• This plug in requires you to register your web site with site URL and an email address. I don’t a good reason the author needs to collect this info.

    Hi skylabb,
    Actually registration is optional,
Once you install the plugin it will work without any need to register.

    Hope this will help you.

    Thanks,
    The errnio team.

    Easy to tell.

*Drinks coffee, installs plugin on test site to see, activates plugin*

Yep, @errnio that is misleading. This is what came up immediately.

Which says in a nice red alert “Errnio needs to be configured, please register here”.

It also did not work for me. Strange.

*Looks some more, views page source*

    OH WOW.

Seriously, that is not good. At a minimum you are tracking installations. That’s not really permitted by the plugin guidelines.

This is what you’re iframe would load had my browser not blocked it.

This will be reported to the plugins team via plugins [at] www.remarpro.com

I get that you feel this is “Software as a service” but anyone doing that simply to get “a button at the bottom-right of the site, once the user scrolls down” is giving you a lot of data for very little in return.

Thanks for further explanation on the issue, Jan. Ditto to all the points you brought up above. The prompting “error” message is very deceiving. And the author is not supposed to be collecting specific user data such as site url and email address in a manner that users think that they would have to provide the info order for the plugin to work.

    Hey Guys,

First i would like to thank you for all the feedback, we took it seriously and made many improvements.

We changed the notification to be more polite and explaining ,rather then “error” like.
    see screenshot

The IFRAME has been removed as we weren’t aware for the privacy issue.

As before the plugin has always been working without registration, we are all human and sometimes it doesn’t work for technical reasons.

    Thanks again,
    The errnio team.
