Free API key & options page
-
Hello,
I am running WP 4.2.3 multisite (updated July 23). I installed Wordfence Security on July 15. According to the scan logs, it worked until July 17. Since then, the following error message has appeared:
Wordfence could not get an API key from the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by going to the Wordfence “options” page and hitting “Save Changes”. This will cause Wordfence to retry fetching an API key for you. If you keep seeing this error it usually means your WordPress server can’t connect to our scanning servers. You can try asking your WordPress host to allow your WordPress server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com.
When I go to the Options page, all of the options are blank/un-selected. When I attempt to make any changes to the page and hit “Save,” it shows the red box in the corner “Wordfence is working” and asks me to reload the page. When the page reloads, none of the changes are saved and the API key is still missing.
I have contacted my host to request that they allow a connection with noc1.wordfence.com. They tell me that they have updated their firewall settings. However, I am still running into the same problem. I assume there is an incompatibility somewhere but I’m very new to WordPress and I don’t have the know-how to figure this out…
Please help!
