Have you gone through the Customizer and made adjustments to see if the issue gets resolved?

It makes it much larger than normal and puts a random page link in it.

I’m not sure I understand the “random page link” here. Please elaborate – are we talking about the site navigation or the header image?

A link to the site would be of help in order to analyze the issue and assist you further.

Sorry, should have elaborated. The random link is a page on my wordpress site. This link is normally only under a rollover link on the left sidebar.

The site is a company intranet, so I really can’t give access to it. Here is a screenshot of the problem. Hopefully that will help

That would be the Featured section of the theme – by default the Twenty Fourteen looks for posts with a specific tag to feature, failing that it looks for posts set as Sticky and if that returns nil it displays the latest post(s).

In the Customizer under the Featured Content section set the tag to none and save – that in most cases removes the Featured content section till such time it is put back in use with the above settings. You can also disable the featured section altogether via a check box under the TwentyFourteen General Options tab.

Let me know how that goes.

    Regards,
