So I will start from the beginning, I started with a premiumpress theme, converted over to a divi theme and I had podcasts that were displaying properly with one single player, I was using podpress at the time. I upgraded from PodPress to power press. I created a Podcast channel then I migrated everything over to the new channel I created. Now, any post prior to the migration get dual players and they both players play the mp3. I ran into a weird one that has four players and only two of them play. I attached the link to the post. Can you please let me know what I can do to fix this? I’ve tried doing everything but redoing the post. I have over 100 posts that this is happening to and redoing 100 posts would be a pain. Now my database is over 300 podcasts the new posts after the migration are ok but anything before the migration either has the dual player or in the case of this post 4 players.

HELP! Please let me know what is going on. We had not noticed it because we did not go all the way back until recently we had to go back to some of our first episodes recently. Thanks!

So correction, after our last updates on all software including wordpress and Powerpress we now have two players on all posts…

Is one of the players using the WordPress Audio SRC shortcode? If that is the case, you will have to manually edit it out.

Also, is PodPress still active? If it is, deactivate it.

Apologize for the delay, I was actually caught up in some emergency stuff,

    To answer you questions

Podpress is installed but not activated. So we can still get the stats but if it needs to be deleted I can.

As for the Shortcode, I don’t see a shortcode at all in any of theme/post. I don’t know if this matters but it’s a Divi Template page, but the way the Podcast is configured is via the normal Post. in the Podcast Episode Custom channel Section. The file is typed in there and the “Podcast (episode) Default” is blank.

OK so I got it down to 2 stream now. I looked at the template and it had the shortcode. But I still have two left.

    Any more ideas?

    Thanks

Let me clarify. All the new posts have only one player but all the old ones that were in wordpress have two players.

I have two podcast channels the default (which has no podcasts in there) and the other channel is the one I send to the podcast players and shows on the website. That second player that shows on the older players is the default feed that Powerpress setups and the Podcast channel I created. I hope that helps.

    Hi techlifebalance,

    Looking at the post here:
    https://www.journeyofpossibilities.com/exploring-possibilities-the-shaman-in-stilettos-anna-hunt/

The top player is most likely referencing the default PowerPress feed while the second one is coming from a Custom Podcast Channel (exploringpossibilities). If you edit this post in the WordPress editor, do you see the Podcast Episode box for the default channel under the main blog-post editor? If so, does it have any information it?

Hi Shawn, Thanks for all the advice, we are so close, I can feel it! ??

The Custom Podcast Channel has information and the file link.

I do see the “Podcast Episode (Default)” box and no file configured. In faded grey text it says “https://example.com/path/to/media.mp3” and DOES NOT have a checkmark or colored green like the Custom Channel.

You are correct, Custom channel is where I have the file configured for the podcast.

I do not know if this matters, I did a migration from Podpress to PowerPress using the PowerPress migration tool.

    Thanks,
    Mario

    Hi Mario,

Thanks for the clarification. Since the default channel Podcast Episode box is blank, it seems unlikely that the non-working media player is being inserted by PowerPress. If you no longer need podPress, you could delete it completely and see if that fixes the problem. If you aren’t ready to completely delete it, you could try temporarily switching to one of the stock WordPress themes like 2021, etc. and see what happens. If the unwanted media players disappear after the switch, then the problem is likely being caused by Divi, in which case, you can contact Divi support for assistance.

    Hi Shawn,

If I remove PodPress, will that remove the PodPress Stats under Powerpress?

    Thanks

    Hi Mario,

The stats you see under PowerPress are your Blubrry stats. PowerPress doesn’t import stats from podPress.

Thanks! I’ll try what you say and if I still get the issues I’ll reactivate this post. THanks!

It has taken me a bit to respond, I had to reopen the issue. I had to get a staging site ready and then do the testing on that page so I would not affect production.

Having deleted Podress with the Theme, still showed two players

Then I switched to the 2021 theme, Podpress not installed and it still showed two players.

I’ve looked through the entire page and I do not see a shortcode. So I am not sure where to go from here. Can you help some more and let me know what else I could look for?

I don’t know if this means anything, the way I migrated was using the Powerpress migration tool and it helped me migrate everything over to Powerpress from PodPress. That was a while back though. None of the new ones are showing two players so I am kinda at a loss

Do you have the mp3 link in the main part of the post?

    Thread Starter techlifebalance

    (@techlifebalance)

So the Overall post has regular URL links to things. No Links to MP3’s. The only MP3’s are in the place for Powerpress plugin section nothing in the post at all.

    Thread Starter techlifebalance

    (@techlifebalance)

Also to clairfy any new post does not have two mp3’s only the old migrated ones do.
