FOUC Issue | Google Chrome Only

    Good Day!

    Our website exhibits FOUC issues only when using Google Chrome, not any other browser such as Edge, Firefox, and Opera.

    You will notice the FOUC issues occur mostly with our website pages About, News, and Blog.

    I tried your plugin (all possible combinations) to see if it could eliminate or mitigate the issues. Unfortunately, it did not.

    Any ideas as to what could be causing this? So strange!

    OK, so first question; did the FOUC also occur before installing AO, or did it start after installing/ configuring it?

    Hi @optimizingmatters,

    Excellent question. It occurred before we installed AO.

    In any case, I found the root cause of our issue and corrected it (for now, at least).

    Deductive reasoning told me that the issue is not related to our current website, installed plugins, nor hosting environment. It’s related to Google Chrome.

    So, as an experiment, I downgraded Google Chrome from V97.0.4692 (latest stable version, released on January 4, 2022) to V96.0.4664 (previous extended stable version, released on November 15, 2021) and — voilà — the issue disappeared. No more FOUC.

    I reported the above to Google. Hoping they’ll issue another update to fix this condition. It drove me bananas for two days.

    To ensure I don’t run into the same issue before the next major Google Chrome update, I stopped Google Chrome from auto-updating. This will allow me to test and retest our website(s) under a stable browser condition.
