Forum notification for subscriptions

When I enable forum notifications for topic and replies the users are getting notifications for all forum posts/replies and not from the forums and topics that they have subscribed to and this also include group forums.

At present plugin has functionality to subscribe for buddypress groups and for bbpress forums topic, this plugin do not have option for every topic, I will include this enhancement in future release

Ok, but I get notifications from forums that I don’t subscribe to.

Another questions, which notifications do I get when enabling “forum” in backend. Is it when a new forum is created?

Forum is different from buddypress groups. Buddypress has only groups, i have included subscribe to group push notification button for every buddypress groups (when group activity push notification is enabled). Forums, topic are coming from bbpress, it will work based on push settings for forum , topic (are custom post types) similar to POST notifications (plugin is currently designed like this). bbpress designed forum, topic as custom post types, so it will work like custom post types notifications. I will include conditions for bbpress forum, topics, replies only for subscribed users for forum, i need to check bbpress code to include those conditions, I will try to include in future release.

So what you are saying is that it’s not possible to get notifications from group forums without turning on global forum notifications? Group forums are handled the same way as sitewide forums?

Forum activities show up in the activity feed but I don’t get a notification about it. Perhaps the way BuddyPress works?

At present, plugin has functionality to send notifications only for buddypress group when you turn on group activity notifications , so that group users can subscribe/unsubscribe only for group activity notifications.

(if you see in push settings tab there are 2 options – all activities or group activities)

forum, topics, replies are created by bbpress, all these are related to custom post types. So whenever these custom post types are turned on for notifications then notifications will be sent to all users.

I need to analyze bbpress code to merge those logic in this plugin to send notifications only for users who are subscribed to forum, topics. I will let you know after analyzing bbpress code.

Are you using bbpress plugin for forums, topics? or any other plugin?

Thanks for clarifying how things are working and it would be awesome if you can get push for forums to work like discussed.

I’am using BuddyBoss but the logic should be the same I think.
