Forms Won’t Send Anymore

  • I’ve read through several similar issues here but I still can’t figure out why my forms suddenly stopped working. They have all been working for years, I haven’t made any changes but suddenly with either a WP or theme update, they stopped sending. I have at least a dozen forms on my site and all of them give various errors.

    “Technical Error. Contact our office.”
    “There was an error trying to send your message. Try again or contact our office.”

    Contacted the themes people and they say everything is working on their end.

    Just in case it helps. Here are my MAIL configurations:

    To: [email protected], [email-611]
    From: [text-35] <[email protected]>

    Any ideas?

    ([email protected] is just a placeholder since I don’t want to share my email here)

  • Are the error borders colored orange or red?

    @dr-chazay if you are still having problems, trying removing the plugin entirely and just re-installing it. Something has caused the plugin to fail but this solution worked for me when everything else failed.

    Neil, some are red and others are green, I remember an orange/yellow one as well (if that’s possible).

    Bactersaurus, thank you for that suggestion. Do you know if I will lose any forms? I use CF7 to create surveys and they took a long time to create, especially since I have over 20 surveys and forms. I don’t want to lose them. Will uninstalling the plugin save the forms?

    Hello my friend, do not uninstall through the interface, you will lose your forms.

    To keep your forms, you have to remove the plugin from the wp-content / plugins folder and install it through the wordpress interface.

    @baxtersaurus – I pleased that solution worked for you.

    It’s however unlikely to apply to many of the 5+ million using CF7 & in particular to those have problems with CF7 due to issues on their WP site each day.

    Oh no! I lost all of my forms by uninstalling CF7 (from within WordPress) and then re-installing it (as suggested above).

    I’ve had 2 pages worth of contact forms that I created as surveys, weeks and weeks of work, lost. I get 404 error pages now instead. ?? And of course, now I can’t test to see if the re-install even worked.

    Is there a way to get the forms back??

    Is anyone able to assist with the loss of these forms? I called my hosting company to revert back to a previous backup but the forms seem to be lost. I asked them to search for them in the database, they are nowhere.

    Since they should never have been lost in the first place, is there a way to recover them?
