Forms being flagged as spam, FAQ unhelpful

My boss is having trouble with our site’s contact form. Multiple customers are receiving the “auto-flagged as spam” error response, as has she when she’s tried to submit a form herself.
It’s lucky that a couple of customers have contacted us via other methods and happened to mention the error. We’d had a previous customer have a similar response due to specificity of the field (correct date format, etc.) but not they are all simple text fields, save for email, which should receive a different auto-response if incorrect.
We don’t use the “Comment Blacklist” and there are no other third party cache plugins that I’m aware of, so the FAQ regarding this problem isn’t resolving the issue. How do we fix this?
