Forminator dropdowns are not showing the “Placeholder” value as expected.

CURRENT BEHAVIOR: The dropdown defaults to the first actual option, even if a “Placeholder” is defined in the admin view.

EXPECTED: When a “Placeholder” is supplied, the dropdown should show a neutral default option that will not validate as a selection in case the field is required.

Would love for this to get implemented correctly so we won’t need to try custom script solutions. Thank you so much for a wonderful plugin!

    Hello @rumka ,

    I’m sorry about this issue.

Our developers are aware of this bug and they will prepare a fix for it for a future release of the Forminator.

Yes, I check every next release with hope these known bugs will be fixed, and unfortunately so far there is nothing done on either of my requests. This one about the dropdown selecting the first option by default, which is a very unpleasant problem to deal with. And also the other issue of rendering form labels, where even simple characters like quotes are displayed as raw code.

@wpmudev-support2 is there an update in sight?

I posted another request and got the same answer as usual. The developers will look into it. Even their paid members are waiting for a solution and have been for a long time. Fingers crossed we might see a solution soon.

    Hello @rumka and @aussiemike

    I hope you’re doing well!

The fix for this issue will be included in the Forminator 1.13. In the meantime please please create a new option in a Select field, with a custom label, place at above all others to use it as a placeholder.

    Thank you Nastia @wpmudev-support9!

Happy to hear this will be included in the next version!

What you suggest for the dropdown only visually appears like a workaround. It is not a viable option, however, if we need a user to consciously select a required option. The custom option as you propose it, will validate as a selection, so the user can just bypass the required field without making any real selection.

    Best,
    Rumi

    Hi,

Any news on this? Not having a empty select box by default prevent us from using it in our quote form (because users will left the default value instead of choosing the right one)
