    I was notified on a few websites that the Formidable plugin needed to be upgraded to the most recent version, 2.0.1. However when I attempt to do this, multiple times and ways, I get the following message:

    An error occurred while updating Formidable: Download failed. Unauthorized

    I’ve been running this for some time now, years in fact and never had this issue. I use the plugin on multiple sites for my customers and behaves this way on all of them, so it doesn’t seem to be domain/site specific.

    What would be the suggested fix for this?

  • If you hurry up with an update, you can always do a manual update – uninstall plugin and upload and install the new version. You will not lose any settings or data.

    This has happened several times to me.

    We need to know the following:
    1. Are you running multi-site?
    2. Which webhost are you using?
    3. Which version are you currently running?

    1) The problem I get is using Formidable Pro on standalone sites
    2) site5
    3) I think it was up to 2.0.17

    I deleted it; downloaded 2.0.19 and reinstalled. I had the problem on 2 sites and have had the problem before. I have no idea what caused the problem.

    Ok, if you do the following, what happens?
    1. Go into formidable/formidable.php file. Change the version number on line 5 to 2.0.18.
    2. Go into formidable/classes/helpers/FrmAppHelper.php. Change the version number on line 13 to 2.0.18.

    Does an update show up? If so, what happens when you click “Update Now”?

    I don’t have the problem anymore. I deleted it; downloaded 2.0.19 and reinstalled.

    If you would like to make sure updates work well for you in the future, I would recommend taking the 2 steps mentioned in my previous post. If you decide to make those modifications, let me know what happens.

    @jamie.wahlin – I completed steps 1 & 2 as per your earlier post. The Plugin Update prompt is removed from the plugin now. I updated from 2.0.20 to 2.0.22.

    The Formidable Signature Field plugin add-on also is failing to update. Same procedure there? thx.

    Also, could you copy and paste the message that you see when you go to the WP > Updates screen and try to update the Signature add-on?

    I would recommend that you try re-entering your license key for the Signature add-on as well (in your Formidable > Global Settings > Plugin Licenses).
