Formatting text on full-width banner image

Re GP Lite: My question has to do with the text superimposed on the full-width banner image. Some pages correctly pick up the corresponding page title, while others just repeat the text from the Home page header “tag line”. I could find no way to control this. Does anyone know how to do so? Also, is there any way to alter the text size, color or font in this case, short of messing with the CSS code which I was warned to avoid?
