    Hi WordPress Community,

I’m currently setting up a website that will be selling high value items. I don’t want to do ecommerce as such, due to the nature of the business, I just want simple listings and contact information to get in touch with us and take payment from there. I was planning on using the posts function to do this.

However I’ve found the formatting of posts very confusing.

I created a template that had a column, with post featured image on one side and post content on the other.

below this was another column with a gallery on one side and post content on another

However when I go to create a post, none of my template is there despite the fact I have selected the ‘default template / single post’ I want to have text in separate areas so i cant just add the text and let the templating do the formatting.

Seems like I may have overcomplicated this, is there a simple way to have posts with more than one post content block? I understand that if i write text in the post and select the featured image this stuff will display. But how do I have more than one area of text? (IE. text in the top column and text in the column beneath that) Is there a way to get one paragraph to display in the first

    Thanks
    Conor Beecham

    Hey Conor,

I think what might be a better and much easier solution to what you want to accomplish is to create a Block Pattern.

You can create a combination of blocks and reuse them on any page or post, rather than creating an entirely new post template.

    Hi DJ,

Thanks for your help, that makes a lot of sense.

I also didn’t realise that the ‘post content’ block added more than just text, but other blocks that were added to the post!

    Thanks,

    Conor
