• I would like to position individual letters and words in a post to make a shape

    to giv a bit of an
    idea this bit would
    be a kind of beaker
    shape and then
    it
    is
    on
    a flat base like a
    kind of wine glass

    there, you can see the trouble, posting it strips out the extra white space. If you add a bunc of spaces in front of each row it looks like this:

    ~~~~~to giv a bit of an
    ~~~~~idea this bit would
    ~~~~~be a kind of beaker
    ~~~~~~shape and then
    ~~~~~~~~~~~it
    ~~~~~~~~~~~is
    ~~~~~~~~~~~on
    ~~~~~~a flat base like a
    ~~~~~~kind of wine glass
    Thanks
    Martin
  • How good are you with inline CSS? Only you’re going to need to be pretty good with CSS to pull this off.
    Hmmmm
    Thanks esmi
    That’s going to be a problem then. I can see what you mean and I could probably do it with CSS but the problem is it’s not for me. I’m building the site for someone who wants all their posts to be pictures made up of words.
    The only way that I can think of is to show her how to build the images in a graphics app and upload them as images.
    I think that would be a lot easier in the long run.
    Here’s a plugin for displaying wordpress ascii art. Doesn’t look like you can make things other than words, but maybe you could adapt their technique for your client.
    Thank you for your help.
    It seems that I can achieve a good amount of what I want with just the
    <pre></pre>
    tags.
    Thanks for the tip on the figlet plug-in mtw28. It looks interesting and I did install it but can’t work out at all what to do with that!
