Just installed UpdraftPlus and it works great backing up to Dropbox. I am wondering though, about the format of the database backup. Everything I read says backups are stored in .zip format but my database bkup was stored in .gz. Is there an option to change this to zip?

    Hi,

There isn’t a way to change the format that the database backup is stored in.
However, .gz (gzip) is a common compression format, that is supported by all good archive utilities.

e.g. 7-zip from https://7-zip.org. Also accepted by phpMyAdmin for manual restores.

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I have to install an unzip utility for Windows. Is 7-zip the best one?

I use 7-zip and would recommend it
