Form Submissions Lost

Are you able to replicate the issue on every submission? Do you notice the issue when any specific fields are selected or filled?

Could you please share the form export so that we could give a closer look regarding this?

If you are concerned about any sensitive information in the form, then you can duplicate your form, remove any sensitive information, and then export it.

You can share the export file via Google Drive, Dropbox or any cloud services in the next reply.

Hi @wpmudev-support2, here is the form export, the issue has persisted and shows no improvement. I’ve lost a huge number of submissions and changed the form plugin altogether but if you could resolve this it would be a great help.

I’m really sorry to hear about the issue.

I tested the form that you shared and it works perfectly fine on my test setup – I got notifications as expected and submissions are saved in DB as they should be.

It’s quite difficult to say what have caused the issue on your end when we can’t replicate it and if there’s no plugin/form on your site anymore for testing.

In most cases issues like that are related to some sort of conflict on site (sometimes also caching). This would need to be tested on site in questions.

Some time ago I came across similar issue where it turned out that in some way (unrelated to Forminator itself) DB tables that Forminator uses for storing submissions were literally deleted from the database. But then – while submissions weren’t stored becuse of that, the notifications were still working and also, this would wipe out all previous submissions rather than just some.

That being said, we can only “speculate” at this point but I suppose there must have been some change either on server or on site that caused some kind of a conflict.

I understand that you moved over to a different form plugin and I sincerely apologize for the issue and not being able to solve it “out of the box” but since the issue seems “site-specific”, it would have to be investigated and tested further on the actual site.

If you’d be willing to re-add the plugin to the site and test the form more (could also be on staging site if you can replicate the issue there), we’d be eager to assist you further with this so the cause could be found – and then we could find solution or at least provide feedback to our developers so they could make necessary improvements in the plugin.

@wpmudev-support8 Hey thanks anyway. I did use a WP-Migration plugin to upload my site from a local environment to the server which could have caused the issue with the database. The issue started after 41 submissions. I hope you can test this and maybe make improvements for future users. Anyways, I really appreciate the quick response and effort. Thanks again!

I’ll certainly try to test it but let me just ask additionally:

1. those 41 submissions (after which issue started) – they were made already on the migrated site or before migration (and the issue started after migration)?

2. do you know if DB prefix has changed between local and migrated/live site?

3. if you do have access to database through the phpMyAdmin, could you check (note: prefix may be different) following tables

wp_frmt_form_entry
wp_frmt_form_entry_meta
wp_frmt_form_reports
wp_frmt_form_views

and for each table in “Structure” tab in phpMyAdmin see if following fields (accordingly) are set to “AUTO_INCREMENT”?:

entry_id
meta_id
report_id
view_id

They should be set to unique and AUTO_INREMENT as otherwise it will cause issues. I’m bringing this here because you mentioned migration and this is also something I’ve encountered in the past after migration – due to differences between DB engine configurations or due to how migratin plugin works, some tables were loosing those settings during migration. Forminator relies on the DB automatically incrementing those IDs.

So that’s definitely worth double-checking.
