• I am using Contact Form 7 version 3.9.1

When I send a test message, we receive it with no problems, but when some others send messages, we do not receive them. They do not go into our spam folders. Messages are addressed to my gmail account and to my partner’s aol account. He has the identical problem of not receiving some messages but he does receive my tests.

I have the form set up so that after a message is successfully sent, they are re-directed to a different web page. I can see, via Statcounter, that visitors have been on the form page and next onto the redirected page on occasions when we never received their forms.

Some unsuccessful messages were sent from iPhone, others from Chrome/WIN7.

Is there a suggestion on how to remedy?

  • Intermittent problems indicate some emails are being seen as spam somewhere in the email process. This is usually due to email headers (in particular the From email address used) or email content.

Emails can be considered spam for a whole host of reasons and get rejected at many points in the email process in addition to your spam folder.

See Contact Form 7 Email Issues – this links to a much more comprehensive article which also covers emails being considered Junk.

The form is set so that the “From” in the header is
    [first-name] <[your-email]>
Are you suggesting that some names and email addresses may be seen as spam somewhere within the system?

Yes – the use of ??<[your-email]> is covered in some depth in the article I pointed you to.
