    Hello,

Users have been reporting the form does not submit intermittently. After some testing, I have identified it happens when there are more than 1 “.” or an “_” in the email field. Any advice on why this might have started recently?

    Thanks,

Can you provide an example of the email field value that causes the problem?

I can, an email of [email protected] fails as it has two periods. Also, in the “WHAT DO YOU NEED” text field, multiple commas or brackets cause it to fail:

“TEST Apparel (shirt, hoodies, etc). Gifts, this, that, etc.”

    Very confusing!!! Thanks!

Also, I’ve been trying various combinations of special characters in various fields and it happens intermittently… the only thin that makes it happen for sure is more then one “.” in the email… but many people have been getting failed forms and I have screencaps (with personal info) if you need to see.

Could you be more specific about the problem? Do you get any error response after a submission or just not receive an email?

The email is rejected before it ever sends to us. Client gets the error “Error trying to send your message, try again later” – I checked with our server team and there were a few stuck in SPAM server side, but the ones I am most worried about do not send at all.

I have tried to replicate the issues clients get by putting various values in each field and the only one I can confirm does it every time is two period in email address (before the @). However, many clients have reported issue without that… though special characters seems to be a trigger.

Oh also, the border is red, not orange. Thanks it’s a real puzzle, worked fine forever…

    Hello @promosapien,

The border color is a troubleshooting method since each color means a type of error. The red one means you’re having issues with your email server. In my experience, this kind of error are solved almost always when you setup an SMTP plugin.

You can set up SMTP on WordPress using a plugin, there are several free options available, but first I recommend you watch this video tutorial for more details: How To Setup WordPress SMTP For Sending Emails.

You may be wondering why it used to work, but now it is starting to fail. This happens when your provider changes the service usage policies, adds restrictions or disables features or functions that are considered insecure (such as those that send unauthenticated mail).

    Hope this helps you.

    Best regards,
    Yordan.

    Yordan,

Thanks a bunch! Will try that out ASAP!
