Form fields not displaying with new checkout experience

This sounds like other parts of the site’s functionality might not be compatible with the updated checkout experience.

To clarify, did you already have a chance to check if all theme/plugin files are updated to their latest versions, while making sure their changelogs mention compatibility with the new checkout experience, or otherwise?

That’s correct.

I have checked all plugins. Everything is up to date and compatible. Also, there aren’t any errors.

How do I check this? I have checked woocommerce status logs as well as system report and nothing is showing incompatible there.

You can find the changelog by visiting the official plugin/theme page on your, clicking on “View details” and then the “Changelog” tab. If it’s not mentioned there, I suggest running a conflict test to rule out any possible plugin/theme conflicts.

I checked this again today and without doing any changes from my end, the issue is now resolved. I can see all the form fields properly displayed. I am assuming that your plugin team did some changes to resolve the issue.

There’s an additional issue though, in the card number form field, card icons are displayed by stripe. See image: https://ibb.co/smc72XV.

I want these disabled. I have tried setting css as .p-CardIcons {display:none;} but it doesn’t work. Is there another way to stop showing these card icons?

I’m happy to learn the original issue has been fixed.

Regarding customizations, the CSS won’t work in this case since this is loaded through an iframe directly from Stripe. We have a guide on how to customize this after updating to 8.2.0 here but it is still limited. We’re working on enhancing this little by little.

Just wanted to open this thread again. I have recently started facing this issue again. It shows up intermittently – sometimes form fields show up and sometimes they don’t. Please check this.

When it doesn’t show up, only test mode message is shown and all form fields don’t display.

Could you please confirm if you tried running a conflict test recently or not? This will help us locate if the issue has been caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. Here are detailed steps on how to?run a conflict test.

I did the conflict test last time and nothing showed up and then I stopped facing the issue. I will check it again this time and report back.

One observation (could be unrelated but happened last time too): When stripe form fields stop displaying, my email box placeholder text gets appended with “<button class=&quot;stripe-gateway-stripelink-modal-trigger&quot;></button>”

Here’s the update:

I disabled all the plugins except woocommerce and stripe payment: same issue

I changed theme from Astra to twenty twenty four – same issue

Please check. As I mentioned earlier, when the issue showed up last time, it automatically got fixed without me doing any changes from my end.

Are you using the checkout shortcode or checkout block?

Is your website on test or live mode?

Can you please reset the webhooks to check if the issue persists? You can find more about this in this guide. Please make sure to use the correct keys to match test/live mode ??

Hi,

I am using checkout block in test mode. As soon as I switch to legacy checkout experience, form fields start displaying. Can you please explain how webhooks are related to checkout form display issue?

Also, keys are set correctly because it was working fine till a few days back and I was able to place an order in test mode. I switched to legacy experience for some testing after which when I re-enabled new checkout experience, form fields (card related details form) in checkout form stopped displaying.

I reviewed the HTML code of your site and found some invalid HTML tags.
For example, a Button tag inserted inside the Input tag:

To find out what is causing this, could you switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four and also deactivate all other plugins except WooCommerce and Stripe plugins?

Once you have done this step, let me know so I can inspect the site again.
Hopefully, we will find the issue and fix it. ??

The html code related to button is getting inserted when I enabled the new checkout experience. I have mentioned this in this thread above. Here’s what I mentioned earlier:

One observation (could be unrelated but happened last time too): When stripe form fields stop displaying, my email box placeholder text gets appended with “<button class=&quot;stripe-gateway-stripelink-modal-trigger&quot;></button>”

This appears to be a clear indicator that not all plugin functionality currently enabled at the site is compatible with the new checkout experience, therefore, everything appears as expected only with the legacy checkout enabled.

Here’s more on the new checkout experience, and what to do about it. Best to reach out to the support channels to the other must-use plugins at your site, in order to alert them for the incompatibility with the new checkout experience.

Hi,

I have disabled all the plugins to test new checkout experience only with woocommerce. Now only woocommerce and stripe plugin are activated.

1. Button html issue is resolved. I’ll figure out which plugin is causing it but it’s not a major source of concern for me.
2. Form fields are still not displaying in stripe checkout form. This is the biggest problem. Customers can’t place order without this working.

I also observed that when checkout page is loading, sometimes the checkout field frame tries to load (shows for a brief ms), but then disappears.
