Good morning, I’m pulling my hair out trying to understand what is going on here. I created a basic contact form and for whatever reason the first time someone visits the page (Edge, Chrome, Firefox), the form loads with extremely basic styling.

Refreshing the page or doing anything else to make it load again loads the form correctly… and I can’t understand why!

All themes and plugins are up to date. I’ve tried disabling lazy load, as well as implement caching but every time, it needs a refresh to look normal.

Edit: Here is a screenshot of the initial appearance: https://imgur.com/a/Nm2Lgv1
Here it is after refreshing: https://imgur.com/a/ta3LsKU

Thanks in advance to anyone who can take a look!

    Brad

  • Hey @bcrumb – Thanks for contacting us!

I looked at the URL you’ve shared, and on my end, the form seems to be working fine without reloading the page. Here’s a screencast for quick reference.

When you’ve sometime, can you please share the browser and the OS you’re on so I can do some testing in that specific setup?

    Kindly,

    Hello Prashant,

First of all, really appreciate the reply, and you taking the time to test this out!

I’ve been able to reliably get it to happen on my windows 11 machine using Microsoft edge, as well as on Chrome and Firefox. I also got the same thing on mobile (Android 13 I think, with Firefox mobile). When I test, I first clear my recent data including cache, then navigate to the homepage and select the pre-app page (link that you tested in your capture, thanks again for that).

    [video src="https://learnmasonry.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/Brad+-+Engineer+Support/OMTC-wp-forms+capture.mp4" /]

You can see in the capture it’s on edge but I can reproduce on Chrome doing roughly the same process (new private window, navigate to site, then to pre-app page). It’s only the first time it’s loaded that this happens…

    Thanks again,
    Brad

Hey @bcrumb – Thanks for following on this ticket, and for sharing the video screencast.

I looked into the form on Chrome, and Edge, and even on the first load, it appears to be working fine. Here’s another screencast.

When you have some time, can you please check if you’re using any caching plugins on the website? As I’m unable to replicate the issue, you can also try testing for plugin/theme conflict as there might be a conflict between the forms and the site theme or another plugin. To troubleshoot this, please try the steps described in our detailed guide on how to test for plugin/theme conflicts.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey @bcrumb,

We haven’t heard back from you since my last response, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

    Thank you!

I ended up going back to CF7 and playing around more with that to get the form working so I didn’t end up getting a resolution here but I’m fine with that. Again, really appreciate your time!

Hey @bcrumb – We’re sad to see you go, but if you decide to give WPForms a try and have any questions, please feel free to reachout.
