Forget about XAMPP — use this!

I’m migrating a sprawling legacy website to WordPress Twenty Nineteen. After wasting several days and a half-bottle of aspirin on trying to get XAMPP working on my PC so I could stage the upgrade there, I ran across WP Staging and decided to try it. Voila! Within an hour I was blazing away on my website makeover. It’s been a couple of weeks now (did I mention “sprawling”?) and I have had zero problems with this plugin. Highly recommended.
