I apologize for the inconvenience. The widget being stuck on Aries means that your server did not allow the plugin to “set file permissions.” Most web hosting companies allow this.

Which hosting company do you use? If you tell me this, I will check with them to see if they block the plugin (if they don’t allow a script to set file permissions to 755).

The plugin has been tested and works on these widely-used hosting companies:

    GoDaddy (shared hosting)
    DreamHost (shared hosting)
    BlueHost (shared hosting)
    HostGator (shared hosting)

    Advanced Troubleshooting:

The plugin includes a file that must have permission to execute (CHMOD 775) in order to get the planetary positions from the Swiss Ephemeris. The file is:

    daily-moon-forecast/sweph/isabelse

The plugin sets this permission automatically. But, if you feel comfortable with this, you can check this file’s permissions on your server to be sure.

    Thanks for your patience.

No inconvenience caused. I’ve been building the site weeks in advance of our need. There’s time.

I’m with Bravenet. I’ve never had problems with limitation from them.

I’ve checked the file permissions and it is actually set to 755. This is a shame. I was hoping it would be that simple.

Thank you for the details. I just found out that Bravenet disables the PHP exec() function. (See this page on Bravenet and scroll down to the heading “Permanently Disabled Settings— side note: they misspelled ‘Permanently’.)

This plugin relies on the PHP exec() function to get the moon’s position. I’m very sorry, but it seems that it will not work with Bravenet hosting. From Bravenet’s page:

“All these functions, and related functions that run or manipulate programs directly on the server, are disabled. They will not, and can not, be enabled for individual users. Scripts that rely on these functions will not run on our servers.”

Maybe one these other horoscope-related plugins on WordPress can work for you:

    Best Regards.

    Ah bollocks.
I had a very specific use for your plugin that isn’t served by others. I will have to develop some PHP trick of my own to work off of the Lunar calendar I will be manually populating each month.

Is there a possibility of hosting this file on an external server? I’m eager to get this to work.
