• After adding the Google Listings Plugin to my site to add products to Google merchant, it automatically connected my site to a wordpress.com account which had the effect of me being forced to use the wordpress.com account to log in to the mobile app for woocommerce. This has caused me (a freelancer) three full days of work (loss of 2400$) because the accounts couldn’t link correctly. I ended up having to install jetpack, otherwise the app wouldn’t work anymore.

Now i saw other users complaining here in the reviews with the same issue as me and then support staff claiming that the woocommerce app only works with jetpack, which is a lie, because it worked for me completely fine without jetpack before i was forced to link my account.

Please give us the option to use woocommerce without being forced to use this service which we have no need for. This is a so called “black-pattern” and extremely malicious and toxic.

Hi @utill, sorry to hear about the frustration.
I’d like to clarify some points and try to better understand your user case.

Some WooCommerce features requires a WordPress.com connection, but not all of them require the Jetpack plugin, we have more details at https://jetpack.com/support/woocommerce-products-that-require-a-jetpack-connection/.

In the case of Google Listings &?Ads, it uses Jetpack services to initiate the connection to WordPress.com, but the Jetpack plugin is not required.
The setup wizard has a step to just connect to your WordPress.com account.

Do you happen to recall where and when you got prompted to install the Jetpack plugin?
Were you configuring the store for yourself or a client?
