Force menu to take on ‘current’ another simple question

Hey guys,

I have two quick questions. I have tried googling + researching but to no avail.

1. for my site I use a nifty jquery menu.the menu changes the class to ‘current’ to know which tab to highlight depending on which page you go to. When you view a post however (not a page), ‘current’ doesn’t activate and the tab disappears completely, making the layout a bit ugly. when the person is looking at posts, i’d like to force the tab to show up on a single page that I choose, just so the menu looks solid.

2. Is there a way to remove the href link property from a certain menu item after the fact? I ask because I have 2 menu items that have a lot of children in the dropdown, and I don’t want the parent item to be clickable, otherwise I will have to write just some bogus info that says like “please click here to read about ______” and then it goes to the actual child link.
