  • When is Pro Version 2.3 scheduled for release? Can you give us a date?

You cannot initiate a buy option in version 2.2 because it requires that you set the “Show Buy Text” to YES under Display Settings, which is not present, included and provided in version 2.2.

You cannot “easily” replace the BUY button with a DOWNLOAD button following the FAQ instructions, because browsers automatically open the URL of the mp3 file set in the buy link option in a separate window, or alternatively you can create a complex php file for every download. One or two files, okay; more than 100 files, no.

Net effect, if you are not a rocket scientist computer geek, you are screwed. You just purchased a product that cannot accomplish what it is proposed to be able to do. You can neither sell or download mp3 files in version 2.2, period.

Fortunately, all this stuff is coming in version 2.3. My question is, when will version 2.3 be released?

Pro version works slightly differently to free version – there is no “show buy text” button, instead you have 3 buttons which you need to turn on/off as needed. So in Pro version, if you need to have a download option then just turn on a button, give it a name like “download” and then set the button link to your download file or script that initiates the download.

2.2 for both free and pro versions will be released within a few days. This will have fixes for all open bugs and issues (It’s a complete code overhaul)

2.3 is in the pipeline and is likely to be ready anywhere from 3-6 weeks from now. I’ll publicly post a firmer date as soon as I have one but I do plugin development in my spare time so it’s not always easy to predict a solid launch date until closer to the time. 2.3 will be a major upgrade and introduce a bunch of new features such as:
    + Internationalization
+ Make it so user can use track list for some playlists but just single track for others
    + Import/export playlist function – csv
+ On/off button for Artist field
    + On/off button for auto-repeat
+ On/off button for cover art
    + Responsive (mobile friendly) design
+ Button fields to accept shortcode *this one is important because it will let users integrate better with all other types of eCommerce plugins to sell/distribute their music.

Hope this helps answer your question and address your concerns RockingMouse.

Very excited to read about the upcoming improvements. I believe in your work and plugin and plan to implement it 25+ times @ 50+ files each, or for some 1000+ files, and trust in your professional solutions. Most players do not even approach the sophistication of this plugin. Much respect.

For the record, “show buy text” instructions are provided within the FetchApp tutorial, a document intended for Pro users, I thought. Perhaps you can appreciate my confusion. Likewise, as you write again here, “…give it a name like ‘download’ and then set the button link to your download file or script that intiates the download.” One, setting the button link to a download MP3 file opens the browser player in a new window, as stated above. Two, a five line php script file is required per download file in order to force ‘intiate’ the download, something that I cannot do for 1000+ files.

Of course, I am not a programmer, so maybe I am missing something here. Perhaps, you could go beyond generalization and provide the precise script that you know works. Maybe I am not the only customer confused by this situation.
