I have 2 categories set up. But I want category 1 to ALWAYS be the default category when users enter the site. Currently it defaults to the most recent post (which is sometime category 2). Any way to do this?

  • This is very confusing…
There is no post “outside” of categories.
    What is a category “section”?
    What is “main area”?

Sorry, you are right. See updated post

What you want is “exclude some category” from the home page.
    Search….
    Use a plugin. https://ryowebsite.com/?p=46

Thanks for the VERY prompt reply. I want the category to be “accessibly” off the home page. But only if the user choose to navigate to it. Currently WP goes there if the most recent post is in that category. Does this plugin take care of that? Thanks again for your expertise and time.

I hate when people reply without reading/testing the resource I provided…
Post back if it doesn’t work or it doesn’t do what you expected.

And first of all, try to study and understand the tool you are using. WP doesn’t do what you say. It displays ALL the posts on the main page – regardless of their categories! – in a chronological order: latest on top. Actually, that’s the expected behaviour for any blogging tool.
