Hi there! I tried using this plugin, but I got the Forbidden message that it seems a few others have gotten. The site I was trying to use it on is hosted at GoDaddy on their managed WordPress product. Any workarounds?

Hi @sarahwnyc some hosts block direct access to PHP inside wp-content/plugins/ (which is actually a good practice for security purposes). If GoDaddy allows you to add explicit paths to an allowlist, you’ll want to allow direct PHP execution under the path wp-content/plugins/plugin-detective/troubleshoot/* but only some hosts allow this fine-grain control.

If not, unfortunately there’s no way to run Plugin Detective on this site. We built it to run outside of WordPress so that it could safely run even if the site has a fatal error.

Please let us know if you have any other questions

Same issue, but not with GoDaddy hosting. The plugin USED TO work, now I get a 403 error. Doubt it has anything to do with web hoster.

    Hello @pitowner,
We’re sorry to hear you’re running into that issue ?? That’s quite strange since our test sites don’t seem to be running into this problem. Let’s start by going through and gathering some information before we further troubleshoot. Can you share some details on who your site’s host is, and some information about your WordPress version and SSA plugin version number?

Skystra Hosting, latest WordPress version (6.4.3). Not sure what SSA plugin version is. Anyway, I removed the plugin and have no plan to reinstall it.
