"Forbidden" response when user tries to subscribe

When a user tries to subscribe to the newsletter by navigating to https://theradicalhomemaker.net/, then clicking “SIGN ME UP (it’s free!)” on the right side of the page, then lastly entering their email address under “Subscribe for Updates” and clicking “SIGN ME UP”, a “Forbidden” JavaScript alert window appears and the user is not subscribed. A user brought this to our attention here: https://theradicalhomemaker.net/book-reviews/holiday-book-picks-for-farmers-foodies-and-families/#comments.
Happened in Firefox, Chrome, and Opera (didn’t test Safari). Does not seem to produce the same error when a site administrator is logged in. No updates showing as needed / available for any plugin, theme, or core WP files. Your insight is sincerely appreciated!
