• Hi
I am a complete beginner with website design. I purchased a domain from crazy domains and hosting from blue host. I downloaded wordpress (through the links on the bluehost website, which I think took me to mojo whatever that is……). I received a welcome email from bluehost and an email from mojo saying that wordpress has been successfully installed. I have set up a password for bluehost.
When I try to log into the back end of my website I get error message 403 (forbidden you don’t have permission to access /wp-admin on this server). I would really appreciate some help with this problem.
    Thanks!

(another quick question…I picked a theme by googling. The theme I want don’t seem to be available from blue host/mojo and their themes are more expensive. is there anything I can do?)Thanks!

  • Have you spoken to your host about this issue, and even Mojo who have apparently installed WordPress for you?

A quick search will lead you to a variety of resources that show you how to rectify a 403 error, which I would think in your case is a permissions issue.

How to fix 403 error in WordPress

    Hope this helps.

If there are no plugins installed at first, it is likely a permissions or htaccess file issue. Your host may be able to run a script to ensure permissions are all set correctly.

To test the htaccess file, simply access the file manager for your account and rename that file. If the 403 error goes away, then it was that file.

Plugins can cause an issue, but with a new install there are not usually any there. You can go into your hosting File Manager and rename the plugins folder found in the wp-content directory, just in case. If the 403 goes away after that, you know it was one of the plugins.

    Hi,

Do you have access through the control panel from bluehost? Here’s a post from their FAQ about logging in through automated installers like mojo: https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/access_wordpress

    Hope this helps.
