For Three Days now, my request to change my email address has remained “There is a pending change of your email to…” under my admin page… wp-admin/profile.php

How long does it take to change an email address? Who or how does it get changed, if I can’t? I have my own hosted Word Press site at https://fglaysher.com/TheGlobe/

My Gravatar isn’t pulling in either… Is that part of the problem? I’m trying to change my Word Press email address to what I use in my Gravatar account, hoping my photo will then pull in.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

I’ve search all of the hits for “There is a pending change of your email to” but they’re all related to translations or accounts directly on www.remarpro.com – My Word Press blog is on my own server elsewhere.

It must have been formerly connected somehow to my Gravatar account, until I changed it to use with a new installation of Woocommerce… trying to sync all three. Thanks.

    Hi,

I need help. I have two websites and I trying to change the contact email for wordpress.
I have the message “There is a pending change of your email to ”

I have NOT received this email into my old (current) email address and at present my contact forms are working because of this.

Can I get this email address changed by wordpress please.

    MODLOOK

it hasn’t worked for me either…. I was hoping to find help here.

There was an issue opened about month ago
    “/topic/there-is-a-pending-change-of-your-email-to”
but the moderator decided to shut it down without resolution. I have just encountered this issue and I have a number of different sites, not locally hosted, not using some purchased theme, pretty standard so the response provided doesn’t help. Is this an issue without a solution or are the volunteers just too busy to get a response up?

Yes, unfortunately a moderator didn’t understand the problem and didn’t like the tone of the question so he closed the previous thread instead of resolving it. I don’t care if it is a volunteer community, that was ridiculous.

This change came with a security update in 4.9. The only workaround I’ve found is to use phpMyAdmin, go to the usermeta table and delete the _new_email entry and then go to the user table and manually edit the user’s email address.

    Hope this helps!

If @mrmikedavis solution doesn’t work for whatever reason, another option is to edit the “wp_options” table.

Use the database “Search” option to query the email address you need to change, in this case it should return the “wp_options” table unless you changed your table prefix (which you should do as good practice anyways). In that case simply look for “[your_prefix]_options.”

You are looking for the “admin_email” row – edit and click “GO.”

Just my opinion, but the addition of this new ‘security’ feature is kinda goofy – if your Website is hacked, which I’m assuming it was implemented to protect against, it’s very likely not by some low-level attempt – the person also has access to your server > Website database and can easily circumvent the WordPress Settings page in the manner I outlined above. So basically, this somewhat frustrating functionality becomes moot since there will be no email verification.

WordPress is in need of major overhauls (Media Library, Menus, etc.) in many areas, but the devs are building picket fences to keep dogs out, not burglars.

This is to confirm that the steps mentioned by Mike D (@mrmikedavis) worked for me.

Btw, I also agree with his opinion about the other thread.

    Dave (@5point),
The DB entry that you are referring is actually to update the Email Address available under Settings > General Settings. Whereas the database entry that Mike is referring is to update the Email under Users > [admin user id] > Edit.

I’ve been noticing this problem with a number of sites I manage. The answer here seems to be for two different scenarios and as I understand them the problem is the same, no confirmation email is being received.

The issue I have is this is a workaround and does not answer the problem everyone has pointed out “no email is received for confirmation.”

Is anyone aware of the reason “why” no email is being received? Yes, I’m getting notifications from the site so email is working. It only appears to be an issue with this particular function.
