• I held off for the longest time from switching from Brecht’s first recipe plugin: “WP Ultimate Recipe Premium” over to “WP Recipe Maker.” WP Recipe Maker recipes handle recipes differently in that the plugin doesn’t use custom post types, but instead intends you to simply attach recipes to regular posts. Well, this was a deal-breaker for me, since I have hundreds of recipes and hundreds of regular blog posts, and I did NOT want them all mixed together. So I didn’t give this new recipe plugin much thought after that. After about a year of ignoring the messages urging me to switch over, I took another look at it, and realized that I could attach a recipe to any custom post type, not just regular posts. (This wasn’t made clear to me in the beginning) So all I had to do was add some code to my child theme function.php file to create my own “recipe” custom post type. Then I was able to attach all my recipes to that. Anyway, I love the new plugin! Has a lot of awesome features and it’s much easier to work with.

  • Hi MrFent37,

I was wondering if you could share more info on how you created the custom post type for the recipes? I’m in a situation similar to yours, with blog posts and recipes that I want to keep separated and not together.

    Thanks,
    Louise
