  • I can’t seem to be able to edit the “About” section at the top of the sidebar. I can edit Pages, Categories, etc. but I can’t figure out how to edit About.

    HELP!!!

    If it is in the sidebar… wouldn’t make sense to edit the sidebar.php in your theme?

    all i want to do is edit the text under About – funny thing is i already did it a few days ago and now i can’t remember how i did it;

    have i taken it up a few notches on the “fool” scale or what?

    the problem is that i am not allowed to edit the sidebar – there is a message that says “if this file were rewritable you could edit it”

    how can i get edit permission?

    Did you keep the sidebar.php file on your c drive or wherever? Open it in notepad or dreamweaver or whatever program you have, edit it there, and upload it through an ftp. Will work that way.

    Alternatively, you can edit it in your host’s control panel file manager editor. Or you can change the permission on the file to (probably) 666 or rw-rw-rw so you can edit it through wordpress (but then set it back after to 644!)

    thanks all – i’ll go the ftp route – i don’t really know how to get permission to edit on the web directly
